Dr. Kristy Archuleta is an internationally recognized and award-winning Professor in Financial Planning at the University of Georgia, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Certified Financial Therapist-I™. Prior to joining the UGA faculty, she was an Associate Professor and Director of the Personal Financial Planning program at Kansas State University. She is a co-founder of the Financial Therapy Association, the Journal of Financial Therapy, and the nation’s first academic program in financial therapy.
She also helped establish Women Managing the Farm and the Financial Behavior Keynote Group, a speaker’s bureau specializing in evidence-based expertise for financial professionals. Dr. Archuleta has garnered national and international attention as a speaker and author who has published numerous scholarly articles and co-edited two books on topics related to financial planning, financial therapy, financial counseling, and mental health.
She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, NAFPA’s Consumer Education Foundation, the European Financial Psychology Institute, the Financial Therapy Clinical Institute, and two editorial review boards.
She has won several awards for her cutting-edge research and is often featured as an expert on podcasts and in major news media outlets, including the New York Times, AP Press, CNBC, MarketWatch, and others. When Kristy is not working on cutting-edge research, she can be found chauffeuring her kids to various activities or driving a semi, tractor, or combine on her family farm.
